I got a chance to know Mikaela Shiffrin a bit when she was still reaching for the amazing heights she has since achieved. I also got to know her mother a bit, Eileen, and much of her family. I've always believed that Mikaela had the undying support of her family. They are 'good folks' and she is 'good folks'. Yes, she has remarkable talent, but the belief in herself and the commitment to achieve her goals is family taught.
